Just Move No Excuses

The biggest pitfall for most people when it comes to exercise or personal care is time. How many times have you heard some one say; “I don’t have time” or “there are not enough hours in the day.” Well, I have a solution just for you -calisthenics.


Calisthenics are a form of exercise where a person utilizes little to no equipment and uses their body weight as resistance. Examples would be; push-ups, body weight squats, lunges, and planks. The point being is we all have a portable gym at our disposal we just need to use it.


Calisthenics are such a great way to prepare a strong and health body that they are utilized by our armed forces. Gymnasts also use them to develop their lean muscular bodies. The benefit of utilizing calisthenics is the exercises, for the most part, can be done daily and your bodies recovery time is much faster.


How does this save time? For one, you do not have to travel to get going. Two, unless you are doing pull-ups or chin ups, you don’t need any other equipment then yourself and some exercise clothes. Three, the exercises won’t even keep you from watching you favorite television shows. You can simply perform your repetitions during the commercials.


Here is a challenge for you. The next time you are enjoying your favorite show on TV try performing body weight squats during the commercials. At first, the exercises may seem difficult but with consistency over time you will notice you energy levels will be much higher, your mood will be more cheerful and your body will start to develop lean muscle to help keep you moving longer in the later years of your life.




Sample Start-up Work-Out:

All exercises are to be performed for 2 sets, once a day for 2 weeks.

  • 10 Squats

  • 10 Lunges per leg

  • 10 Hip Bridges

  • 10 Push-ups

  • 45 second Plank
