Prolotherapy

About PROLOTHERAPY

Prolotherapy, also known as proliferation or regenerative injection therapy, is used to decrease overall inflammation in an area and stimulate tissue quality improvement.

Prolotherapy involves injecting a fluid into the targeted tissue/joint, which temporarily increases inflammation. This kick starts your normal healing cascade. This inflammatory response increases blood flow and stimulates healing and growth factors to saturate the area to induce repair of the damaged tissues.

Prolotherapy is the injection of an irritant solution (usually a form of sugar called dextrose) into joints, ligaments or tendons. It usually involves three to four or more shots given monthly for several months, followed by occasional, as-needed injections.

Post procedure protocols are typically about 1-2 weeks.
